CBAIA is seeking a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic to provide Care of Supplies in Storage (COSIS) support at Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Barstow, CA.
Provide on-site equipment repair support to maintain established production schedule during the core working hours of 0630 to 1500, Monday through Friday. Candidates should expect occasional overtime as required.
Perform equipment repair support functions to Inspect, repair, rebuild, modify, test and adjust heavy mobile equipment such as wheeled and tracked combat tactical vehicles to include: HMWWV's, Dump Trucks, Multiple LAV Variants, M88's, MTVR's, MRAP's and Trailers. Make repairs upon the vehicle or remove engines, transmissions, transfers, and other related parts and components so specialized shops may correct discrepancies.
Disassemble equipment to a degree necessary to perform required repair.
Perform equipment maintenance support functions to correct rejects on engines, transmissions, and other component malfunctions on all vehicles and equipment undergoing maintenance.
Perform repair and maintenance reporting functions, Inspects and evaluate components and parts using exacting specifications such as technical manuals, process standards drawings, blueprints, and precision measuring and gauging devices such as micrometers, pressure gauges, precision clearance gauges, dial indicators, temperature gauges, spring testers, out of roundness gauges, depth gauges, vacuum gauges, feeler gauges and works to tolerances as close as .0001 inch.
Use special tools such as torque wrenches impact wrenches, drills (electric and pneumatic), special pullers (bearing, seal, pulleys and harmonic balancer), grinders, vices, reamers, jacks, cranes, hoists, and standard/metric wrench sets (light and heavy duty), arbor presses, hydraulic presses, drill presses, various testing equipment used throughout the mechanical trades.
Removes rust by use of portable electric and pneumatic sanders, impact tools, sanding by hand, scraping with hand scrapers and/or chemical application.
Remove contaminants such as road dirt, mud, grease etc., by steam cleaning and/or approved solvents.
Preserve unit by changing fluids, applying tape, strippable coatings, oils, greases, preservative compounds such as P-1, P-14, P-19 and/or paints surfaces after cleaning process by spraying, brushing, wiping, fogging, dipping and applying shrink-wrap.
Perform stenciling, tagging and labeling of equipment.
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Work with a high degree of independence.
Minimum of 2-3 continuous years of prior experience in Heavy Mobile Equipment Maintenance and Repair.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain OSHA forklift Certification with material handling up to 10K. All licenses must be current and up to date.
Candidate requires a department of transportation physical in order to obtain all government licenses.
Preferred Qualifications: Marine Corps Heavy Equipment Maintenance knowledge desirable.
Must be able to obtain a government Common Access Card (CAC).
